I’ve always wanted to win consistently, don’t you too?
Some people win bigger than others and there’s no reason why we can’t copy their strategies to be even more successful… I’ve picked out a few (shortened version):
Michael Jordan – We should learn from his work ethic and consistency day in and day out through his drive to compete, to always be the best. The famous quote from the Nike advert ‘I missed more than 9000 shots in my career’ Just shows you need to take all the shots you have in life, even if you miss most there’s going to be a few that score. Unlike the game of basketball, you only need one good opportunity to win and through daily practice you become prepared for that.
Tony Robbins – Knowing how to link pleasure and pain in your favour. We should learn how to do this on command. By discovering our own psychology, we can convince ourselves to do just about anything. Getting yourself in a resourceful state is the best way to the maximise your efforts and energy resulting in thinking and acting with clarity, you’ll be less likely to make mistakes… What Tony likes to call emotional fitness, empowering your physiological and mental state.
Marcus Aurelius (the last of the five great Roman emperors) – Had the philosophy of radical honesty and transparency through the practise of stoicism. Accept your fate where things are beyond your control; but acting on things that you can control; i.e Knowing that you can’t change bad circumstances from your past, but you can change your future efforts being persistent till you achieve your goals… He often talks about meditating on death to put things into perspective.
Curtis Jackson – Being able to adapt and diversify: Looking at his transition from the music industry to involvement in multimillion business deals (i.e coco cola’s takeover with vitamin water). It was inspiring to know his story where he had virtually nothing, being kicked down several times and continued to rise up over and over… In his book with Robert Greene, he speaks about having the mentality of always moving forward despite any fear by respecting the process of life…
Joe Rogan – Align your life with activities you enjoy doing. Joe diversifies his lifestyle being a Podcaster, UFC commentator, Comedian and business owner. Choose topics you’re interested in and formulate them to work on both a minor(personal gains) and macro-level (global gain), for example with his podcast he benefits from making connections and learning first hand from experts whilst sharing the experience on youtube (both are win-win)… How could we offer value in a similar way?
You can emulate qualities of someone you connect with, that’s got those results you’d like… A sportsperson, actor, entrepreneur. See through the smokescreen of main stream media, ask what are they really doing behind the public eye that makes them successful.
You can change your behaviour by modelling successful people: by copying their behaviours and also asking yourself what would they do in your position when you’re faced with decisions… Share this with someone you know who isn’t getting the results they want.
